Choose one recent thought, one thing you said, and one action you took. Ordinary moments are often more revealing than dramatic ones.
1. What am I examining?
2. What was my motive?
3. Was I being truthful?
4. Was fear, pride, insecurity, compassion, responsibility, revenge, or approval involved?
5. Who could have been harmed, immediately or later?
6. Who benefited, and did I include myself honestly?
7. What consequence followed?
8. Would I make the same choice again?
9. Would I accept the same behavior if it were done to me?
10. If the outcome showed I was wrong, what would I correct?
11. Who taught me what “good” means?
12. Have I ever consciously examined whether I agree?
Do not try to make the answer sound wise. Make it honest. The purpose is examination, not perfection.
